Grayz Thoughts | The End of RBGs 2018-10-05

After too many kicks, losses and me just never ever improving. I'm finally calling it quits. It was a short run! Some players should never ever PvP. I'm out for good!

Merry Christmas 24th Dec, players! It's the Swedish date when we celebrate christmas over here.

Note: We actually did 5 RBGs but the 1st half of the first match, which I had recorded, seems to have been erased. Therefore I began uploading from game number 2.

4th and last RBG game of the evening with my Alliance guild on Outland EU. Notice how the energy drops much faster this game compared to any of the other 3 we had. We could've learned alot from the enemy team this game. Like I wrote last game; There's always a possibility to improve no matter if you win or lose.

Note: First part of the game I just jump around cause I'm defending Panda. I don't mind defending cause to me it's team first. And if that's what a Hunter does, then that's what I'll do. Kind of reminds me of when Zumio made his Hunter RBG video.

3rd RBG game with my Alliance guild on Outland EU same evening. We lost big. We still could've learned from this game if the majority of our team had a winner's mindset. There's always a possibility to improve no matter if you win or lose. Doing casual BGs on Alliance has proved that to me haha. I didn't realize how often Horde wins in those til now. And knowing that I expect to lose, but play better to even the odds out. 

I thrive during adversity. Such a mentality can't be faked. Either you grow to develop it or you just don't have it. Still love my team, though. But honestly, it might become an issue in the future since losses to better teams is a part of doing any PvP.  This is why playing for rating is a detriment. Always play to improve yourself and your team's coordination etc. The challenge in it is what makes it so fun for me. 4th game will be uploaded on Christmas (EU) cause I don't follow any pro posting patterns, currently!

Diary Post - Twitch - The Next Project

Just a short post about some things I'm doing. In no particular order.

• Preparing for my new project on Twitch; I'll be streaming here.
• Rebranding my Gaming persona to Grayz the Hunter. Not by name, but rather associating everything I do to the Hunter class which is what I focus primarily on anyway. Especially since I want to PvP alot more and increase the level of difficulty as I evolve. This makes connecting Grayz to the Hunter class very important. Hence a new profile picture with my main Horde Hunter being my new face. Every new Hunter alt I create, that might be of importance in the future, will therefore have Grayz in it's name. This makes recognition so much easier down the road.
• Document my PvP progress as I get more and more involved with other PvPers.
• Begin streaming very soon and learn the basics as I go. The thought process has been going on for a while now and it's time to act.
• Make decisions when it comes to what I think is important when streaming. Why, how, eventually when (if I decide to have a schedule. Is it even possible for me to have a schedule?) etc.
• And much more that I'll write offline since I actually want this to be a short post, fo reals, yo.
  
  
  It's interesting how this time of year makes me more active on the blog. It almost never fails. Enjoy your Christmas and make sure to have fun in WoW, if you still play.

Arena experiences during Mists

Do what's in your heart.
And go all in under the circumstances you're in.
As i've said on Twitter; Being hardcore is a lifestyle and as such it requires making hard decisions and being brutally self critical and honest.

When all is said and done for an expansion I dig deeper into other sides of the game. In the past it has involved alot of future expansion speculation, especially with gold making in mind, which over time, has led to a massive amount of bad decisions, 8+ guild banks filled with garbage and alot of wasted gold (i'll dig deeper into this in a later post about professions and materials @ WoD). The end of an expansion has also meant that i've been able to PvP alot because it has been the last season. It's also at that time the best possible honor gear is up for grabs.  

Diary post - Next! What's queued for WoD?

With WoD being far off (I don't type WoDecember without a reason on Twitter) i'm thinking about the options I have upon the expansions release. 

PvE path

The flexible raid system will be a part of all raid diffuculties below Mythic. This opens up multiple options and depending on how my new job pans out I might have time to do some raiding at least once a week. There's actually so many things that are happening during the end of this year, so raiding shouldn't be something I plan for, unless they tune the Heroic bosses super easy and preparation can be kept to a minimum. 

Sadly, the first and second tier are usually the most exciting, so i'd rather be raiding in the beginning than in the end. And on that same note, I know for sure that raiding early in an expansion requires a lot higher time commitment. 

PvP and my view @ WoD speculations

I want to PvP, as always. This might be the expansion where PvP gets even more airplay. Especially since time will be working against me the first months of WoD. I hope the changes Blizzard have in mind will be for the better, but i'll let time tell rather than speculate; Another thing other bloggers/podcasters can keep on doing while I observe, fast forward and grow extremely tired of the same old same old. Luckily there's the 3% in every field that don't follow the mindless mainstream way of doing things. A big /hug to YOU from this Cow!

Gearing up in WoD

Mike, "Preach", "A bro fist to you all",

had a good discussion about how gearing up in WoD can become a nightmare due to Blizzard treating the majority of players (the non dedicated) like morons. I won't discuss if I think the WoD system is good or not. What i'm interested in is how it all pans out. The most important bits that I have in mind that will require some planning are; stats are randomized, BiS becomes a lot harder to obtain (even through crafting?), gear changes depending on the characters specc and that has it's pros and cons. The risk of loot drama being increased (especially if you have mix of family members, friends, good and bad players) because the players want their loot now. 

How will PvP gear fare for raiding purposes? Which items can I buy to save time and how? Which level of gameplay should I commit to? Should I do it within my guild, Skies of Doom, or should I raid with a team using OQueue (the addon is better than ever!) or Open Raid? 

I hope that my guild's plan to do Mythic content stays intact and that they can work towards it. In that case I should join a Heroic team which is prepared, but not looking for Mythic raiding within the first months. Interesting. Tons of thoughts and questions to answer. That's why preparation is the most fun part cause when the plan begins to move, with or without major changes, it's "all part of the plan" (- Heathe Ledger's "The Joker").

The Oqueue addon is pure greatness

This addon has changed the way that I play WoW completely. The past weeks I’ve killed world bosses at least 20 times. Something that would be impossible if I only tried doing it on BDF EU. With this incredible addon I can do BG’s, RBG’s, raids, legendary quests, do Monkey runs, farm the Northern Barrens and much more. This addon is great! There’s  one huge downside, it will spam your bnet friends from time to time and when that happens it’s impossible to keep a conversation going.

With this addon I can play on the level I feel comfortable with and not have to depend on my guildies or friends to be online. With my playstyle that’s closer to the anti social part of the scale this suits me perfectly because there’s no weird reasons to bring along someone or not to do it. It’s just log and play. I love it!

Diary post: PvE, PvP and Brainstormz

I'm trying something new this time around. Let's see if I can stick to it even once. What it is? Writing shorter posts, on the realz. Yar. Really. Aight. Go!

PvE

Raiding's been up and down this expansion. And the reason for the downs is lack of dedication, lack of a raiding core, lack of teamwork, lack of persistence, the loot that’s available in the LFR, odd and hidden social rules in the guild that irk me and finally the increased difficulty (seen from the Wrath raiders PoV, not mine <<BC mentality for life!>>). So, to avoid future disappointment and unnecessary “drama” I’ll choose a different path for 5.4. I’m not leaving my guild, I’m just not counting on doing anything that requires effort with it.

WoG Brainstormz # 8 - Krasarang hunting (farming rares)

After tons of 5.2 PTR talk on tons of podcasts i've had it and had to add my two cents, by NOT spending time talking about it. Many WoW podcasts suffer from a format structure that hurts more than it helps at times. I'm not claiming that mine's better, but I know for certain that I don't want talk about what bores me to death. So on this episode I focus on some rares that i've been killing.

You hate the LFR!? You hate dailies!? Shut it!

This post was written prior to patch 5.1 release, but was published after!

So many raiders and podcasters and bloggers and forum trolls and guildies and... **********... complain about gearing up in Mists. Whether it is by grinding rep or if it's through the LFR very few players are content with the current situation. And as more raids are being released it will become even more obvious that this "problem" is related to the first months of the expansion and nothing else.

Want to know how to clear content in a WoW or Gold fashion? Reach the required ilevel to enter the raid, know everything there is to know about the encounters and choose players that fit or that can think while doing their thing, on the move, rather than the highest ilevel junkies. Finally, learn from every single wipe and have the courage to try new things, especially if your setup is different due to the lack of available classes.
