WoG Brainstormz # 15 – I miss open world questing

The old rss feed is dead. New rss feed can be found here http://wogbrainstormz.libsyn.com/rss
So all links from the old post are dead. When new episodes are uploaded they'll be linked to the new rss feed.

The gaming landscape is changing a lot, avoiding the boring grind for valor, alts and professions, linear starting zones are boring after the first time through, many social guilds aren’t social at all, linear gaming is boring gaming and I'm using the Pareto principle (the 80-20 rule) in WoW and at work.

Diary post: Oqueue, patch 5.4 and the auction house

An Oqueue overview. A must have addon for active puggers!

The Oqueue addon is pure greatness
This addon has changed the way that I play WoW completely. The past weeks I’ve killed world bosses at least 20 times. Something that would be impossible if I only tried doing it on BDF EU. With this incredible addon I can do BG’s, RBG’s, raids, legendary quests, do Monkey runs, farm the Northern Barrens and much more. This addon is great! There’s  one huge downside, it will spam your bnet friends from time to time and when that happens it’s impossible to keep a conversation going.

With this addon I can play on the level I feel comfortable with and not have to depend on my guildies or friends to be online. With my playstyle that’s closer to the anti social part of the scale this suits me perfectly because there’s no weird reasons to bring along someone or not to do it. It’s just log and play. I love it!

For my plans @ patch 5.4 and my current Auction house activity read on after the break.

Diary post: PvE, PvP and Brainstormz

I'm trying something new this time around. Let's see if I can stick to it even once. What it is? Writing shorter posts, on the realz. Yar. Really. Aight. Go!

PvE

Raiding's been up and down this expansion. And the reason for the downs is lack of dedication, lack of a raiding core, lack of teamwork, lack of persistence, the loot that’s available in the LFR, odd and hidden social rules in the guild that irk me and finally the increased difficulty (seen from the Wrath raiders PoV, not mine <<BC mentality for life!>>). So, to avoid future disappointment and unnecessary “drama” I’ll choose a different path for 5.4. I’m not leaving my guild, I’m just not counting on doing anything that requires effort with it.

There’s other topics after the break and they involve PvP and some thoughts about podcasting in the future.

Planning to switch my second enchanter to a second jewelcrafter, posting/pricing strategies, I prefer clearing raid content when it’s current, I begin discussing PvP in 5.3 but I get cut off and so the episode is ended

Diary Post: Social Guilds and Raid Problems

Progression is simply raiding to improve your teamwork and your own personal skill, that's it. And as it is atm we lack that ambition, as a team. We need more players that are willing to put in the effort. Normals are not the LFR and the difference in how you have to approach the two is larger than the jump from normals to heroics.

This post was written on the guild forums and the topic is worth having on the blog, cause it's one that's been annoying me for a long time. Inspired by this very important article on Wowinsider.

I will use this in a blog post. It's an important topic and I have tons of thoughts about it. I write in a very general way to "provoke" people into responding so You can join in on the discussion, after the break.

Diary post: 5.2 - What's the Game Plan?

"Right, let's make the next move!"

This was written prior to 5.2, but posting it has it's value.

If i've set a goal, reached it and have other goals to achieve moving on becomes the only option.

Patch 5.2 is going live tomorrow on the EU servers. I can't seem to stay away from the blog when i'm excited about something, so here's a little update.
  • Gold making is completely dead. I don't have the willpower I once had to dedicate tons of time into researching markets and being online, undercutting mofos x amount of hours per day. Don't get me wrong, there is gold to be made, but after Cataclysm which was one huge gold expansion for Grayz, especially due to crappy internet which made raiding impossible, I just feel like i've done it and that there's no point in going hardcore into it again.

On the Move: Give Me More Donations, Please!?

"Spare a couple of thousand dollars furr a transfurr, plz omfg lolz?....."

"On the Move" is a blogging notice that i've added for posts written when commuting or whatever. Hopefully it will make it easier for me to post more frequently and jot down ideas when they're fresh.

Donations to podcasters, bloggers, youtubers etc. Is it a good or a bad thing? Are there good and bad reasons to donate? Does Grayz care? If so why/why not?

The answer is actually short and simple. I care about contributing in the way that I choose. I care about showing support for the gamers that do things that I like. People will always do what they want regardless of if they want to donate or if they're the people wanting donations. And I won't care as long as they stay away from repeating the donation lingo every single time that they do podcasts, streams etc.

My thoughts on minding other peoples business after the break.

WoG Brainstormz # 8 - Krasarang hunting (farming rares)

After tons of 5.2 PTR talk on tons of podcasts i've had it and had to add my two cents, by NOT spending time talking about it. Many WoW podcasts suffer from a format structure that hurts more than it helps at times. I'm not claiming that mine's better, but I know for certain that I don't want talk about what bores me to death. So on this episode I focus on some rares that i've been killing.

Let's Go!
